Trip Optimisation

Trip Optimisation

Trip Optimisation (also called Route Optimisation) is an add-on functionality which will help a fleet manager (any other user) to find the best path for a given vehicle which has to visit a set of locations/stops/checkpoints.

Example:  Suppose a vehicle is at Source. It has to visit 6 locations A, B, C, D, E, F and then end its journey at Destination. What is the best route (trip) it can take?

Example:  Suppose a vehicle is at Source. It has to visit 6 locations A, B, C, D, E, F and then end its journey at Destination. What is the best route (trip) it can take?

Is Source-A-C-B-D-E-F-Destination the best route?

Or is Source-A-C-E-B-D-F-Destination the best route?

Or is it the same Source-C-A-B-E-D-F-Destination with a different road from A to B and a different road from D to F?

Trip Optimisation functionality will help the Fleet manager (or any other user) get the answer to the same.

Though the Trip Optimisation feature, a Fleet Manager (or any other user) will be able to

  • Upload multiple stops/locations for a selected Trip and find the most efficient route for that trip by the click of a button.

  • Trip Optimisation feature will reorder the stops/locations basis the time taken to travel between them either basis speed of travelling in the current real-time traffic or basis a defined constant speed.

  • It will auto-select the best road network.

  • It will also clearly show the savings in time and distance in an optimised route.

Mandatory inputs to enable trip optimisation

Trip Optimisation is available when trips are created and the following inputs are provided by the user:

  • Source

  • Start time for the trip

  • Destination

  • At least 2 different checkpoints in between to optimise the trip for.

Some of the benefits that the user can avail are:

  • Fuel savings since distance traveled would be comparatively lesser

  • Other cost savings as vehicle and driver are operational for a lesser time

  • Faster deliveries

  • Less time spent by driver on trips

  • More ROI for transporter/fleet manager
