Currently the dashcam stops giving data once the vehicle is turned off and this results in the vehicle going offline. Can this be solved?
Yes.
We are working on a feature called Stealth mode which will address the issue of device going offline. This is how it will work;
1. Dashcam will be put into standby mode once the vehicle is turned off. This helps in reducing the power consumption of the device and helps in saving the vehicle battery.
2. Dashcam will send a data ping every 15 mins and will stay connected with the server
This is work in progress and should go live in 3-4 weeks. Once this is live, vehicles/devices will show "stopped" in their motion status and will not show offline.
There is one important caveat though - The device draws much less power in the standby state but still this power consumption can completely drain the vehicle battery if the vehicle stays at rest for a long period. Keeping this in mind, standby mode will come with a time limit, beyond which the device will go into proper shutdown. This limit will be communicated once the feature is near go live.
