My vehicle is offline

My vehicle is offline

It is normal for the platform to show a particular vehicle as offline temporarily. The platform will show a vehicle as offline if the device has not sent any data packet to our server in last few minutes. The platform also shows the time when the last data was received from the vehicle.

Pro Tip: Try driving your vehicle for a few kilometres in an area with good network coverage to solve this.

Causes

  1. Vehicle in bad GSM network coverage area: This stops the SIM card on the device to send the data to our servers making the vehicle appear offline on the platform. These areas could be a covered parking, a basement, hilly area or a remote village.
  2. Bad satellite connectivity: This can happen when the device is around many large, tall buildings or in a remote hilly area. This can also happen during a cloudy day. This can happen intermittently and gets fixed when the vehicle moves a few hundred meters. These offline will be permanently present in reports, timelines and all other places on the platform.
  3. Device tampered / damaged: If the device is tampered with and its connection with vehicle's battery is removed, it may show the vehicle as offline on the platform. The devices have a small internal battery which can last up to a few hours. If the device is not connected to vehicle's battery in this time period, the device will shut down and will no longer be able to send the data to our servers.
  4. Vehicle battery stolen: If a vehicle's battery is removed / stolen, it may show the vehicle as offline on the platform. The devices have a small internal battery which can last up to a few hours. If the device is not connected to vehicle's battery in this time period, the device will shut down and will no longer be able to send the data to our servers.
  5. SIM card data exhausted: Some times, the SIM data gets exhausted. This can happen towards end of the month sometimes for a few vehicles which have run much more than usual. Please contact with our customer support team for helping out in such cases.

Possible Solutions

  1. Try driving your vehicle for a few kilometres in an area with good network coverage.
  2. Check if the device is properly connected to the vehicle's battery. Look out for any loose connections.
  3. Check if the vehicle's battery is present or not. A lot of times, the battery gets stolen and device goes offline after that.
  4. Check if the device has been tampered with.
  5. Check if the SIM card is still inserted in the device or not. You can refer to the device manual to see where the SIM card slot is present on your device.
  6. Run diagnostics on the platform to see possible issues with the device.
  7. Contact our customer support team if a particular vehicle is moving frequently but is still showing permanently offline for more than 2 days.
