Setting Fuel Alerts

Setting Fuel Alerts

Why am I not getting alerts and notifications for Fuel events ?

  • Step 1: Select the ‘Alerts’ module from the side navigation menu.

  • Step 2: Search Refuel and Drainage Alert. Check if the alert are set for your vehicles.

  • Step 3: If yes, check the alert condition:

  1. Alert Timeout:
If the actual refuel or drainage duration is more than the duration set on this condition, alerts will not be created. The default duration is 4 hours, which means, any refuel or drainage event happening for more than 4 hours will not show up as alerts.

  2. Alert Threshold:
If the actual refuel or drainage quantity is less than the value set in this field, alerts will not be created. By default, there is no alert threshold. This value is a percentage of the tank capacity. For example, if the tank size is 200 litres and alert threshold is set at 10%, then alerts will not be provided for refill events which are less than 20 litres. Although, these events will still be shown on the fuel graph.

If the above 2 conditions are set accurately, then the following reasons can impact alerts:

  • In certain situations, you can see the event on the fuel graph but there wasn’t any alert created. This is because of out-of-order data.
If the refuel event or drainage/theft event occurred at a place where there was no network coverage, the device will store the data in its memory. Once there is network coverage, the device pushes the older data to the server. The platform checks the updated data and creates a refuel or drainage event. As alerts are based on real time data, this re-calculation would not result in an alert.

  • In some cases, the device sends data at a delay (5 mins to 10 mins) or data might be scrambled. This causes older data to be sent after new data is received.

  • If your vehicle has been getting alerts at a very high frequency, then alerts will be disabled for 24 hours. Refuel / Drainage alerts will also get disabled in this case.

In these specific cases, alerts will not be created. Don’t worry, every data calculated and shown on the fuel analytics page irrespectively.
