Manual actions on trips

Manual actions on trips

A user can take various manual actions to update the trip state.

Manual actions by the user are different from the GPS enabled actions taken by the platform

Various Manual Actions

  • Manual Start Trip

  • Manual End Trip

  • Manually update the arrival/departure time for each stop on the trip (source, checkpoint, destination)

Manual Start Trip

The system will consider that the vehicle has departed from the source.

Manual End Trip

The system will consider that the vehicle has arrived at the destination.

The system records and shows system generated, fleet manager-initiated and driver-initiated trip events.

Note:

Fleet Manager completing a Trip from the platform

is different from

Trip getting completed due to Geofence entry.

This helps the fleet manager to track trip related data on the platform.

e.g. incase the vehicle/device is offline for some reason, the fleet manager can still record the trip start by themselves on the platform.

How it works

From the trip details page, the fleet manager can start or end a trip by themselves. For any trip, they can also update the checkpoint status and provide the checkpoint entry and checkpoint exit time as well

These features are available for all users. By default, user driver actions are disabled on the FMS portal and are available on for the drivers via the Captain app.

These can be enabled for the FMS portal as well from the admin portal by enabling the ‘manual actions on trips’ account preference

View Edit Trip logs

A user can also view the ‘edit trip logs’ from the trip details as well as the trip list page.

The edit trip logs will contain all the details of as and when the trip was updated as well as the details of the user who had made those changes.

These logs will also capture the events where the trip was updated automatically as per defined logics or via API by the end client.
